The Plant

The Plant Card

The Plant Card is the master record for the Plant. Here the user records the unique features of the Plant to identify the actual piece of equipment.

On the General tab you can link the Plant to an existing Fixed Asset. The usage field allows you to drill down to access the Usage table where you can enter the number of kilometers or number of hours ran which will then show the latest entry on the Plant Card. This is required if the planned preventative maintenance is based on usage, instead of periodic time intervals. If the plant affects the availability of a work centre or machine centre in the manufacturing module of Business Central, you can link it accordingly.

On the Site, Vehicle, Warranty and Lease tabs you can add additional information about the Plant, like physical address, serial number, registration number and if applicable the lease details and warranty details of a Plant.

Plant Components

A Plant can be broken down into multiple components. These components will have to be set up as Plant records themselves. Once these components have been set up as a Plant, they can be assigned to the higher-level Plant that they belong to. From the Plant Card you simply click on Components.
